Tsunami in Two Hours
**I wrote this post a few beers (and one shot) into the potential tsunami that was headed toward Hawaii. Some areas of Hawaii were hit – luckily we were at Waikiki and remained unharmed. It was still a crazy situation, with long lines at the area stores and gas stations. Posting as it was written (from my mobile phone) just to document the night.
What if you knew when a natural disaster would happen? As I type this I am watching the tsunami countdown clock (currently at 2 hours 7 minutes) on the news. I am drinking a beer and Mary is taking a nap. We were supposed to leave Hawaii tomorrow, but I highly doubt that will happen.
As far as my opening sentance, Todd and I went to a store about three hours ago to get “supplies” – at the time the line was about 30 people deep. We got water, food and beer. Meanwhile the line grew to 50 people. By the time we got to my room on the 16th floor overlooking that store, the line was out to the street.
It is an odd feeling watching people prepare for an upcoming problem. Everyone has been calm – even joking. The worst part has been that countdown clock. I still have two hours to stay awake…and then what?
